A Slice of My Brain

It’s been so long since I posted here but since then, I’ve been obsessed with DIYs that involve printables. My printer and I are kind of in a relationshiop, I guess. But right now, I’m currently doing homework aaand *surprise suprise* I decided to take a little break because why not. It’s the second week of school and I can already feel my old friend, Stress, creeping and lurking, ready to attack me and throw school works at my face. Nevertheless, my new classmates are okay, it’s a bit hard to adjust at first because I’m used to my old classmates (I’ve known them for four years, by the way).

*This is the part where I remembered I have to do my homework*

So, farewell for now.

Patience

This week, the song Patience has been stuck inside my head. I don’t know why, but I find myself humming the intro tune in random places like the shower, library or even in class. Now, I’ve been trying to learn it on guitar, but I’m not that skilled. Yes, I can play a few songs, but I’m not a pro. I tried watching a video on YouTube, searched chords but I just can’t play it. It frustrates me a lot and having a crappy old guitar makes it worse. So maybe, all I need is just a little patience. (That was a horrible pun forgive me)

Speaking of patience, I really need to be patient because Christmas is coming! I’m really looking forward to it and seeing all the effervescent decorations makes me jump with joy. But before I can enjoy the Christmas break, I still have to take our exams and get ready for our Christmas ballroom performance, which is on December 9. Nevertheless, I shouldn’t let school stress to dampen my Christmas spirit.

Filipino Rice Cakes!

Every year on Halloween or All Soul’s Day, it is a tradition in our family to make lots of suman sa lihiya or rice cakes. My grandma and grandpa are the ones who actually make it, while we help in wiping the banana leaves to be used in wrapping the actual rice cake. The best part is the dip, which is coconut caramel syrup called latik.

According to  my grandma, it takes 6-7 hours for the rice cakes to be fully cooked. I don’t know if other people has  quicker ways of cooking but we kind of cook it in an old-fashioned way. But all the wait is worth it because it’s so good, I’m actually eating one right now. I can only eat 2 pairs of rice cakes because it easily fills up my stomach.

Here is a picture of a suman served with latik (not my photo):suman

Also, here is a link to the recipe (in case you’re interested)

I’m alive!

Wow. Just wow. I haven’t posted here for a while but so many things have happened since my last post. Halloween is almost here but for some reason I’m excited about Christmas. I find myself singing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” obnoxiously in the shower. Then a whirlwind of events happened in my fandoms that gave me a ton of feels. Like when 5SOS announced their concert here in the Philippines (and my parents said I couldn’t go, I literally cried), their album was released, then One Direction’s Perfect and more.  And Calum’s haircut gave me a lot of feels. Then there’s Tadashi Hamada that makes me go boom. Literally. (lol get it?) Okay whatever. So that’s it, I hope school stress won’t take over my life again so I could post more. Even though I don’t have a lot of readers, but still, I feel like this is a way of venting out my feeling and thoughts.

Hey People

I’m currently at KFC right now and my order’s taking too long. Anyways, let me tell you an experience I had. It was quite traumatizing. Here in the Philippines, the most common mode of public transport is the jeepney. Everyday after school, I ride the jeep to go home.

Last Monday, my phone almost got snatched from me. The culprit was sitting beside me in the jeep. Good thing I’m an extremely ticklish person and I can feel his hand reaching for my phone. Luckily, he did not get anything valuable from me. After that incident, I thanked God because He kept me safe and I hope that the guy contemplates on what he did and let his conscience take over his thoughts. I hope he gets what he deserves.

On a lighter note, my food is here. Thanks for reading this if you did haha

Stay safe and alert!

P.S. I wrote this on my phone

P.P.S. I hope you have a great day today 🙂

‘Skull with a Burning Cigarette’ by Vincent Van Gogh

Classic Visions Gallery

Skull900

Skull With A Burning Cigarette, also known as Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette has to be one of Vincent Van Gogh’s most curious works. When I think of Van Gogh art, I usually think of his famous Starry Night or one of his many colorful landscape paintings. But as far as his artwork goes, you can say that this one was “out of character” of sorts.

Skull With A Burning Cigarette, has been described by some in the past as macabre and dark, even disturbing. But to me, I always saw it as tongue in cheek or even sarcastic. In my opinion, it looks very “Rock Culture.” I can even picture someone like Slash or some other rocker wearing it on a t-shirt. Or I can even see it used today as part of some anti-smoking campaign. But of course, I’m coming from a 21st Century perspective. One…

Top 10 Must See Art in the United States

Oil and Marble

Think you have to go to Europe to see world-class art? YOU DON’T. You can see jaw-droppingly, mega-famous art in the US of A.

In fact, there’s so much great art in the States, it’s nearly impossible to narrow it down to a top 10 — but I did my best. As always with me, I’m not stamping these paintings as the most “important” (although they all are) — but the most famous. These are must-see works even for the NON-art fanatic:

American Gothic by Grant Wood. Art Institute of Chicago

1. American Gothic by Grant Wood (1930) at the Art Institute of Chicago. As long as we are in the US, might as well start with arguably the most recognizable painting in American Art. Parodied almost as often as the Mona Lisa herself, of course this painting is housed in the US. It lives in Chicago, about 300 miles from the actual American Gothic House (the house in the background…
